  • Myth: It doesn’t matter if you lose at first, you’ll win it all back.
    • That’s Wassup: Over time, everyone loses. Never keep gambling to try to win it back. This is called ‘chasing’ and is a sign of problematic behavior.
  • Myth: If you are a lucky person in life, you’ll be a lucky gambler
    • That’s Wassup: Luck has nothing to do with gambling. Most types of gambling are pure chance although some games need some skill to play also.
  • Myth: Gambling is much safer than drinking alcohol.
    • That’s Wassup:  Gambling is NOT a risk free activity and can be addictive therefore is never a ‘safe bet’.
  • Myth: If you know a lot about a game, you’ll have a better chance at winning.
    • That’s Wassup:  It is true that some types of gambling require some skill to play, but knowing more doesn’t ever guarantee a win. Be careful not to forget that gambling is still about chance.
  • Myth: Teens can’t really have a gambling problem.
    • That’s Wassup:  More teens are at risk for gambling problems than adults and the younger you start, the more chance there is of it turning into a problem.
