  • High social acceptability
  • More financial leverage: disposable income, employment and even credit cards

Q: Why do youth gamble?

  • For fun, adventure, thrill or risk
  • For recreation and social time with friends
  • Peer pressure, to fit in
  • To feel powerful
  • To get attention
  • Influence from family
  • To feel older
  • For the money
  • Lots of reasons!

 Q: How many people really have gambling problems?

  • 10-15% of teens are at risk for problems due to gambling
  •  4-6% of youth are already experiencing problem gambling behaviors
  • 2-3% of the adult population are problem-pathological gamblers
